Well, it's finally time to leave. I am never really ready always a last minute person. But I can't wait to see all the wonderful creations of all the great artists at the show. I will be there with my sis and favorite fellow. We have so much fun together!!! Hope to see some of you there...
Here is my latest fabric stash!!!! Lots of blues and browns for the fall and winter. I love the one on top. This Teddy Bear was made from my dad and uncle's baby outfit. Can you imagine dressing your baby in Mohair? I just love how he turned out. The fur is just perfect for a prim bear. What a past this outfit must have had. I guess my fur fetish was built in before I was born LOL!!!
You must stop in and see my sis and I at Black Cat Primitives in Shelby, OH. This is a wonderful quaint shop filled to the brim with great prims and antiques!!! Carolyn and Julie are hosting us again this year, and they are a joy to be around. The Christmas open house will be Sat. Nov. 15th from 9 to 5 p.m. and sunday as well, but we will only be there on Sat. Come on in and visit with us and enjoy our handmades. We will be there to sign and date our work. Here is a pic from last year...
A must see blog, this gal is a true talent!!!! I was soooooo amazed by her art work and soul that comes out through her work, that I just had to post her blog. She is P.K. Gracia of "Soft In The Head". Please visit...http://softinthehead.blogspot.com/
Check it out... My sis (Debbie Miller of Onion Patch) and I will be at the FROM OUR HANDS Show in Columbus, OH. Nov. 1st 2008!!! Hope to see you there!!!! We will be busy and hard at work to bring our very best in prim and whimsy design... Here's the link for more info.
I thought I would share what I did over the last couple of days being snowed in with my kids... I took the liberty of distressing my kitchen table. As you can see, from the chairs it was a really plain amish oak table. I will get to the chairs later this spring.
Step one: Sand entire table with a palm sander and 60 grit sandpaper until bare wood is showing.
Step two: Roll on primer with foam roller. ( 2 coats ). I just used primer and not paint and it will not wipe off or scratch off.
Step three: Distress sanding where you would normally see natural wearing. Around the edge, one the top where you would have plates sitting etc.
Step four: After sanding, I used Minwax dark walnut stain. I rubbed it all over the surface doing sections at a time. Then I came back with a clean cloth and wiped it off. This stain will not come off after a few minutes, so make sure you wipe it off fast.
Sweet Annie!!!!! From the singing woods.... Step right up Deena, and claim your prize. Thanks to everyone who signed up for the Vanlentine's give away. I hope to have more of them in the future, so come back often.
Yesterday I received these wonderful cards from Suzanne of Pear Tree Primitives. I was one of 3 winners of her blog give away. It is so wonderful to have people that are so willing to give. Thanks so much for these beautiful cards Suzanne.
I don'nt know about you, but I am sick of being in the house!!! It is so cold here, that I have resorted to redecorating my up stairs. I have posted a few pictures to show what I have done. I love the big cupboard with all the crocks, and I am not sure what the thing is with all the holes in it. My mantle is in between stages right now, so I am going to fix it soon for spring.
I was wondering how to change my back round? I want to be able to choose and texture, or fabric. The solid color is getting old. So if anyone out there is reading this, and you know what to do, please spare a moment to help me out. Thanks so much, your generosity will not go overlooked.
I can't believe the new year is here!! I am so glad the holidays are over. I am soooo tired of eating cookies, cake, and all that stuff that goes along with it. I did however have a wonderful time with my family. Soon I will have some instructions on distressing fabric for doll dresses, and also maybe if I get around to it, show from start to finish a whole doll!!! I am getting the winter blahs already, and getting out the sewing machine is becoming a chore. I need some creative inspiration.
