A Very Distressed Table...
I thought I would share what I did over the last couple of days being snowed in with my kids... I took the liberty of distressing my kitchen table. As you can see, from the chairs it was a really plain amish oak table. I will get to the chairs later this spring.
Step one: Sand entire table with a palm sander and 60 grit sandpaper until bare wood is showing.
Step two: Roll on primer with foam roller. ( 2 coats ). I just used primer and not paint and it will not wipe off or scratch off.
Step three: Distress sanding where you would normally see natural wearing. Around the edge, one the top where you would have plates sitting etc.
Step four: After sanding, I used Minwax dark walnut stain. I rubbed it all over the surface doing sections at a time. Then I came back with a clean cloth and wiped it off. This stain will not come off after a few minutes, so make sure you wipe it off fast.
That's it, this is the end result.
