But a change is in the air, I have been pondering the idea for sometime to change my business name. I have been longing to do something other than primitive, but still have that in the background somewhere. So with that, my new blog will be "By Thy Hands" Tinkerings. Merry Makers...It's Crunch Time...

Well, I find myself full of excitement for this show, a true folk art show, so many times I have been stuck in the antique show catagory, and although that was great at the time and I did well, I always longed to do a show with just artists!!! No worries of dealers underselling me with art work they never even created. Don't get me wrong, I love a good antique show as much as the next, but in the back of my mind, I always felt like that. I know I know rambling on and on, but I am truely excited!!! I have met some of the artists at this show and I am so blessed to be a part of the gang. So if you are in the area, Springfield, Oh. on Nov. 20th and 21st please stop in and see all of the great artists like: Lori Ann Corelis, Scott Smith, Ginger Cazan, and many more. Now, off to plan my booth, filling up the knooks and crannys... ta ta for now.

Well, it is a busy summer... I am a mom of three wonderful kids, and a wife, homemaker, home business owner, and all around country girl. So my time is limited, and I have to make every moment count!!! So, I am busy getting ready for my show in November,(details coming soon). Also, I am busy with Ebay. That is my life so far, so hopefully, things will slow down a bit when the kiddos go back in the fall....I am sooooooo glad I have my fans!!! Thank you so much!!! Have I been Discovered?

Well, the answer to that is No. My dream is to someday be recognized for my talent as a doll/bear maker. I would never want to catagorize myself as "primitive", or "vintage", because I like many other avenues in the art world. I have met so many talented artists along the way, and hope to someday be as well known as them, and be able to make some real money at my sewing machine, (at least be able to support myself). I think my creations make people smile, and maybe they shed light on someone's day. I hope that is true!!! My hope is that you all look at my blog as a doorway into my life as an artist and take away some form of happiness...

My Christmouse Mantle...

Here is a picture of my mantle that I decorated. I actually took a short video, to try and see how it would look. Ummmmm, didn't go so well, so I am going to stick with still photos. Maybe, I need to get a better camera, maybe santa can get one for me... Finally, I am working on my dolly workshops...what to start with has been a challenge. This is the first time, and I am nervous, because I will be video taping myself!!! So, I hope you will all bare with me. The first tutorial will be on making a simple black folk art doll. I will be starting with a doll that has been sewn and stuffed already. Distressing and aging will be the focus. Thanks for your patients, and I hope this will be helpful to the novice doll maker. This tutorial will be on this blog coming the first week in Dec.

My Daughter Morgan, she was such a trooper!!! Getting up with mommy to sell her hearts she made. We had a wonderful time at the show. A special thanks to our vendors for their patients with the loading and unloading. I never thought it would become what it has. All of those people at the gate, made me want to cry!!!! with happiness. I felt like I just gave birth. I am truely blessed to have such great people to work with. Hope next year will be even better.

Here is a few pictures of my "Studio". If you are fortunate to have a whole room to call your studio, I envy you. This is a naked look into my world of crafting, messy, unorganized and personal. Some day I will have a room all my own, and have lavish furnishings that house my collections of vintage and antique items. Taking Time to Enjoy The Summer...and Creating

Well, my computer is sort of working, so I can post a little something. I still am waiting to ship it out. I am so very thankful for my family and friends. I would like to take this time to let them know how much I appriciate them. My husband is so devoted to me and the kids, that I can't imagine life without him. I love to create, and decorate, and he is so supportive. Anyways, I am blubbering... My friends Carolyn, Julie, Carol, and of coarse my sweet Sister Debbie have really been the kindest people I have ever known. I am so excited to be doing a Primitive Show with them!!!! They have made the whole experience fun, and full of surprises!!!! I hope it is a success, I know we have an awsome list of vendors to make it happen. I can't believe it is almost here! So on that note, I won't be posting much, I will be busy trying to think of new and exciting things to create. Oh, I might have a few pieces now and then up for auction on my E-Bay, but I really want to concentrate on the show. I hope you take time to enjoy this summer as it is flying by!!!

Did Someone Say Mushrooms...

Here in Ohio the hunt is on!!! These lovelies are delicious to eat and fun to find. Like a needle in a hay stack we ventured out on a journey to locate these wonderful treats. Stormy weather did not stop us, nor did our soaking wet clothes!!! They are only out for a short time so it's like finding a treasure!! I love hunting Morels.

Recently I came across this video on copyrights by Gritty Jane. I support this and feel strongly for how she is feeling. She has said in this video what I think a lot of us artists have wanted to say about copiers but just didn't know what to say. Please watch it and and get the word out...

Family Time...

Here is a picture of me my husband and three little tikes. I can still call them tikes, because they are still shorter than both of us...All though no for long. My oldest is getting up there, 10 years old now and almost as tall as me. this picture was taken last summer. It was a hot day and my youngest's face cracks me up!!! That is totally his personality too. He starts kindergarten this fall. Gosh, what will I do with all that free time? I can give you one clue... Sewing!!! Lots and lots of sewing!!!
